In a business world saturated with images, professional photography has become an essential tool for personal branding. Despite this, I know that many men would rather dip their knackers in a honey BBQ glaze and swim naked with piranhas than take part in a professional photoshoot.

Well, the biggest concern I hear is that it’s not manly. What is a ‘manly’ photoshoot anyway? Look, I can soon arrange for you to wear a miner's helmet and sit in a Labour club next to a canary in a cage and an overflowing ashtray while you drink Tetley’s and eat gruel, but that ain’t how the world is any more, love.

The kind of shoot that I do is designed to capture you. Not what society thinks you should look like: you. Now I also realise that in itself can trigger feelings of self-consciousness, discomfort, and even fear, so here are a few things that all you sausage-packers out there need to know to conquer your fear of the camera and overcome photo anxiety.

Personally, I don’t give a shiny shit what you look like, what job you do, or what clothes you wear. For a few hours, it’s my job to make you forget all these stupid rules society has made you believe, bring out your personality, and make you look fab—end of.  Men should embrace their individuality and express themselves freely, without fear of judgement or ridicule. True masculinity is about being comfortable in your own skin and owning your unique qualities, and a great photographer will help you do that.
